I love using this app, but since the new update it cannot even open. Very frustrating.
I love using this app, but since the new update it cannot even open. Very frustrating.
Installed it, re-installed it about 10 times with no luck, crashes every time, it has to be fixed.
Crashed on startup every time I opened it. I wonder to know that whether you guys did encournter that issue?
It crashes in Mountain Lion 10.8.1 Didnt the developer get a copy of the developers copy of 10.8.1? He s slow to act on bugs and crashes.Crashes in the current version. This is GARBAGE and all I get is a Spinning Beachball.
This app is all but adandonware. Save your money, look elsewhere.
I purchased this for iPhone, Ipad and Macbook Pro so I could sync bookmarked articles. Ive registered all under the same icloud email address. Will Not Sync. Ive emailed Avacado Hills Twice about it, no response. There are numerous similar reviews of seller not responding to tech service emails. Apple should dump these guys !
As soon as you run this App, it crushes! not working! dont waste your money.
Dunno what all the other reviewers are complaining about. This app works fine on my iMac (Early 2009) and MacBook Air (Late 2011) running Mac OS X 10.8.2 and Wikibot 1.61. Just tested and verified right before writing this review. And it was syncing my bookmarks and history between both computers, my iPad, and iPhone without any problem, so its iCloud syncing is working fine, too. As far as Im concerned, this is the best Wikipedia app on the App Stores for both Mac OS X and iOS, because of its easy to use layout and iCloud syncing. I highly recommend it. And for the people having issues, maybe theres something else going on on your system thats causing problems with this app? Maybe time for a Genius Bar appt?
Thanks for this new version. It now works again. Grrrreat
I dont understand why Wikibot is only 10.7 but Wikioffline still supports 10.6. I have version 1.6 but it keeps crashing as soon as I try and open the application. Now I have no way of updating to the updated versions.
Took a long time but the app is now in fine working order.
nearly perfect
Easy, elegant, responsive to user feedback — when a thing is this good theres not much left to say. Highest recommendation.
Ive been using the iOS versions of Wikibot for awhile now. I tried most of the Wikipedia apps on the app store, and found Wikibot to have the best UI and fullest feature set. I waited until recently to purchase the OS X version due to issues with iCloud sync. The developers have produced an app that exceeds expectations. It syncs flawlessly with my iOS versions of Wikibot and also provides an excellent user experience. Thanks
Perhaps Wikiedia has made further changes to their backend, but Wikibot often fetches blank pages. When it works, it is terrific, but I never know what pages it will display and which pages will be blank. This is very annoying.
I bought Wikibot for my mac after enjoying the way the iOS version worked. I bought the desktop version so that I could sync my iOS version with it and have the same articles bookmarked, saved for later, etc. But they dont sync at all! Im disappointed to still not have heard from Avocado Hills. Ill be happy to add more stars and change my review when this is resolved and/or when they take the time to respond to my email.
App does not works with russian language.
I just took a chance and bought this - should have known better. Application does not return content, simply the search term. I just emailed support and depending on how quickly and effectively they respond and resolve, I reserve the right to change my rating. As of now, do not purchase.
My previous revision could move bookmarks within/without a folder but after an OSX revision could no longer show results of a query (only the title). Then this new revision of Wikibot was able to show the entire result of a query but I can no longer move bookmarks. Come on guys! Great program until all this started.
Not a day goes by that I dont need wikipedia for some quick fact. Other versions have had bugs; this, so far has not. My bookmarks and history and background color are still there, and now the content has resumed!
